Software · Infrastructure · Security

Custom software and IT infrastructure you can rely on.

I design and build web platforms for companies and public institutions, implement and tidy up IT infrastructure, and help organisations meet the requirements of NIS2, the Polish KSC Act and KRI. One partner from the first line of code to the security audit.

Three areas, one point of responsibility

Software, infrastructure and security overlap in every project. That is why I handle them together.

01

Custom software

Web platforms for companies and the public sector, e-commerce and B2B systems, and ERP integrations.

  • Platforms for companies and public institutions
  • E-commerce and B2B portals
  • Integrations: ERP, KSeF, JPK, payments
  • Application maintenance and development

02

IT infrastructure

Complex migrations without downtime, standby data centres and fault-tolerant systems, delivered to plan and finished with handover documentation.

  • Data centre migrations and AD domain consolidation
  • Disaster recovery and standby data centres
  • Rebuilding environments after a ransomware attack
  • High-availability clusters and SQL Always On

03

Cybersecurity

Compliance audits, penetration testing, SIEM/SOC monitoring and incident resilience, in line with NIS2 and the KSC Act.

  • KRI, NIS2/KSC and GDPR audits
  • Application penetration testing
  • SIEM/SOC and incident response
  • MFA and network protection

About me

Wojciech Szymała, owner of NEST

I have worked in IT for 27 years and have run NEST since 2014. I have been programming in Python for 15 years, mostly in Django. I build platforms for public institutions and companies, including ABI Online, which is used by courts and public offices across Poland.

Alongside software, I work on infrastructure and security: Active Directory and Windows Server, virtualisation (Hyper-V, Proxmox VE, VMware), Veeam backups and FortiGate-based networks. I have co-authored information security procedures, I carry out KRI audits and penetration tests, and I prepare organisations for NIS2 and the KSC Act.

For clients, this means one person who understands the whole system: the code, the servers it runs on and the security around them.

Case studies and expertise

Projects that work every day

  • Record of processing activities and their categories
  • Central repository of GDPR and security documentation
  • Multi-step workflow for granting and revoking access rights
  • User roles and a full change history
  • Notifications and review reminders
  • Available as SaaS or installed on the client's server
  • Django
  • Python
  • SaaS / on-premise
  • GDPR

B2B and ERP integration

B2B portal for a manufacturer

A complete sales platform for the trade partners of an electrical equipment manufacturer, with two-way integration with the ERP system.

  • Partner accounts with multiple users and roles
  • Individual price lists, discounts and terms synchronised with the ERP
  • Stock levels and delivery dates in near real time
  • Orders, order tracking and purchase history
  • Invoices, credit notes and downloadable documents, ready for KSeF (the Polish national e-invoicing system)
  • Catalogue with data sheets, EAN codes and downloadable files
  • E-mail notifications and sales reports with charts
  • Django
  • Wagtail
  • ERP integration
  • KSeF

Live migration

Moving an entire data centre without stopping services

Migration between virtualisation platforms to a Hyper-V cluster with Storage Spaces Direct, consolidation of several domains into one new AD forest while keeping SID History and permissions, and switching systems over in stages while users keep working.

  • Cross-platform V2V
  • S2D
  • ADMT
  • Domain consolidation

Ransomware response

Rebuilding an organisation after an encryption attack

Isolating infected segments, finding the entry vector, recovering the Active Directory forest in a clean room, restoring data from immutable and air-gapped backups, and bringing systems back in order of their RTO and RPO priorities.

  • Forest recovery
  • Clean room
  • Immutable / air-gap
  • IOC analysis

Disaster recovery

Standby data centre with automatic failover

Continuous replication of virtual machines to a second site, automated failover and failback plans, stretched networks between sites, and regular recovery tests of the whole organisation in an isolated network, without affecting production.

  • CDP replication
  • Failover / failback
  • DR tests

High availability

Critical systems that survive a server failure

Windows Server failover clusters, SQL Server Always On availability groups, application load balancing and redundant links. Losing one node does not stop the ERP or line-of-business systems.

  • Failover Cluster
  • Always On AG
  • Load balancing

How I work

  1. 1

    Assessing the current state

I get to know the systems, the people and the requirements, and write down what works, what is a risk and what needs to change.

  2. 2

    A clear offer and scope

A specific offer with a schedule and costs, also ready for public procurement procedures.

  3. 3

    Delivery and rollout

I work in stages, in maintenance windows and with a rollback plan, so the organisation keeps running without downtime.

  4. 4

    Handover, documentation, support

An acceptance report, handover documentation and further support in the model you choose.
